I was pretty sure this was coming ever since horror mainstay Tom Savini off-handedly revealedWinter’s Bone actor John Hawkes was in line to play the Governor next season, and now here it is: John Hawkes’s publicist has issued a statement simply saying, “John is NOT appearing onThe Walking Dead.” So, there you go. In other casting rumors, Marvin Duerkholz, who you probably don’t remember as Cody on MTV’s Teen Wolf, is listed as playing Philip Eagle on IMDB’s page for the season three premiere. Since this is just a random IMDB cast listing we’re talking about, I’d take this with a gargantuangrain of salt. [IMDB]

While Philip Blake, aka The Governor, is a major player in The Walking Dead comic book series, fans will have to wait until The Walking Dead Season 3 to see him take shape as a living human being. We recently caught up with Sex Machine Tom Savini, who revealed some interesting information about the casting of this important, though yet unseen, character.
But, AMC is going after a name, and that name is John Hawkes, seen in Deadwood and Winter’s Bone.

First The Walking Dead Season 2 Casting News!
With Season 2 of the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead” now filming in Atlanta, the first bit of new casting news has finally come. That’s right, kids! Get ready to find out who the latest survivor to join the cast will be.
According to TVLine, Pruitt Taylor Vince (pictured right; “The Mentalist”) has landed the recurring role of Otis, a foreman at Hershel’s Farm, where much of the Season 2 action is set to take place.
In this latest season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” TV series, the survivors arrive at Hershel’s Farm, where we will meet Hershel Greene, a vet (as in a veterinarian); his daughter, Maggie; and Otis, the middle-aged ranch foreman who’s such a sweetheart that he all but loses it when he accidentally shoots a fellow survivor.
